Enjoyable, funny, insightful. A welcomed look into the man who typically sheds light on others more than opening up their own world. Would highly recommend the audiobook format to hear the right tone, funny character voices, and a bonus chapter.

I really enjoyed this book as someone who isn’t a huge Theroux fan but as someone who would watch his work and enjoy it when it pops up. I think if you’ve seen everything he’s done you might find it to be a bit of a “and then I did this and then I did that” and feel disappointed.

Some people seem to have given poor reviews based on Theroux’s character and through discovery of how privileged Theroux is. I found that for most of the privileges afforded to Theroux, there appeared to be a price to pay for most of them. I appreciated Theroux’s honesty to be able to depict himself as someone with issues, especially detailing how he has been a crappy romantic partner to both Nancy and Susanna.

A pretty balanced book, it could have been better but I think it was still pretty good.
