Okay so was the plot life changing? No. Was there like any world building outside of they’re apartment? No.
But was the spice so good I read this in less than 24 hours? Yes. And for that reason along is it worth 3 stars? Hell yes.

The plot wasn’t great but some of the swoon was cute! Not going to change your life but a decent spicy read!

Okay this book as amazing. The love between Pen and Keene was so pure my heart can’t take it!
I love their story and their journey of self discovery! This is only my second MM book and I am not disappointed! I am ready to dive into more!

I enjoyed a lot of this book. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes to begin with. Throw in some bi-confusion, which I have been reading a lot of lately, and I’m there. In this case both MMCs start out thinking they are straight, until a truth or dare kiss has them kissing and one realizes he enjoyed it a little more than he probably should have if he was straight. Fast forward a few years and the other friend doesn’t want him experimenting with his feelings with strangers. I mean sex is just sex, right?

The friendship and sexual parts of the book are written well. Where things fall apart is when the author tries to delve into Aspen and his feelings. The attempts are painful - like his feelings are “in a box” kind of painful. Oof. There’s a 3AB and a couple of speeches that are intended to be emotional that are just bad. But the book recovers at the end, more or less. The dare line is extremely overused but after Pen lets his feelings out of the box it’s almost a relief to go back to that type of trite?

But you should still read this because 80% of it was a fun read.

SCREAMING. CRYING

This book was the absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

I’m so glad I picked up this recommendation from an account I follow on. This book lived up to everything I hoped it would be based on the synopsis and what I’ve been told about it.

Getting to know Keene and Aspen has been a journey. Two polar opposites but best friends since basically since birth and next door neighbors. Getting to see what they were like growing up and their lives while in college made it all that more special.

Things definitely took a turn when Aspen offered to help Keene figure out his sexuality after a night out went downhill based on a dare Keene reacted badly to. That’s where the story took off. Being best friends with someone since birth is a different kind of connection that people only wish they had with someone. These two were MADE for each other whether it was strictly friendship or more. There was no other connection like this in any MM book I have read so far.

Although this book ends on a good note, that doesn’t meant these two didn’t go through hell and back trying to get there. I cried during the hard parts. Laughed during the funny part. Happy danced during the sweet moments between these two. Honestly, They were tragically beautiful. And Getting to see these two individuals separate for the first time in their lives to figure themselves out and to see what the future is gonna hold for their friendship/relationship was something that broke me and healed me at the same time.

The spicy scenes were amazing and I knew Aspen was going to have a deliciously dirty mouth but what I did not expect what Keene to have one just as well. I loved their time together and seeing them baring themselves to one another with no walls up. Just straight up love and trust between these two.
