I put off reading this series for a long time for two reasons: (1) the subject matter is dark, no ifs ands or buts, and (2) if I was going to read it, the whole series needed to be out.

I’m writing this review after finishing the series, so I will say that this book was not the best in the series but it still sucked me in and did a great job of setting the stage and pointing you on a journey that would twist, turn, and flip your world upside down a few times over. 

Take the content warnings on this series seriously because no book is worth your mental health.

If you’re up for it, the ride is an absolutely blast. Much like ACOTAR, it gets better the deeper into the series you get.

The romance (and I use that term very loosely) felt forced to the point that I was uncomfortable as a reader. Too much SA and nonconsensual content. I kept waiting for a daring escape or a romantic rescue but it just kept hinging on the one creepy dude that put her in a cage that she is still somehow into. Its giving Stockholm syndrome and bad vibes.
