velskrevet, men intet nyt udover den der covid/systemic racism parallel, som var way too on the nose til at ramme det den søgte og endte med at være mærkeligt cringe

Intelligent. Thoughtful. A reflective read on pandemic-era issues and common experiences. There were times (audiobook) that I wished for the written page because I wondered if the format or the visual experience might be more impactful, but overall a meaningful consideration of some shared experiences.

Grabbed quick lockdown/covid/2020 themed essay collection at the library on a whim. Disliked some essays, enjoyed others.

Thought provoking and thought challenging. I particularly enjoyed ‘Something to do’ and ‘Suffering like Mel Gibson’ - I guess they resonated with me. ‘Postscript: Contempt as a Virus’ was very confronting (in a good way, for me, a white educated woman).

Zadie’s writing is enjoyable and easy to read but my expectations of this book after hearing many great reviews were much higher than what it had to offer. Just a short book of someone’s daily musings as they encounter other people during/before the pandemic. I think it could have been explored a lot more and made more profound than what the book was.
