Quick and fun with good banter and likeable characters, though the big emotional beats didn't get a lead-up, they just all happened suddenly or were explained pretty fast. But I still probably read the next in the series, because again, it was fun.

This was an enjoyable listen. Friendship, romance, a little mystery, magical creatures and so many laughs. This is my first book from this author and it will not be my last. I am definitely going to listen to second book in this series.

Molly Harper has become my queen of paranormal books this month. I was a bit more skeptical of this series than I have been of her other books, as they are set to be audiobooks first then ebooks. That being said, I completely fell for the characters. Yeah, the sub-mystery is a bit predictable, but this was a downright fun time.

Plus I signed up for a book where someone gets with a dragon and that definitely happened. 10/10 would recommend for that alone.

*3/5*

This was a cute paranormal romp with a murder mystery thrown in. It is on the shorter side which I would have liked to see it be a bit longer and have more time with the characters.. it all happens so fast.

Spoiler even Jillian turning into a Phoenix and being able to control her powers..? Way too fast for me.

But I love the town of supernatural beings and will happily return to Mystic Bayou. I would love to catch up with Jillian and Bael too..

3.5* i enjoyed this book, but i felt like the hoard scene happened quickly. i would’ve liked for a little more tension leading up to their inevitable relationship

This was a solid meh for me. First of all, the mystery was so easy to solve it was honestly laughable. Second, the romance part went from nothing to tearing each other’s clothes off so fast I had to flip back to see if I missed something. I know it is a book about dating a dragon, but it was just not in the least believable and the twist is one you see coming a mile off. I won't be reading anymore of this series because there are too many other series out there that do this better.

This is exactly what you expect it to be: a decently written slightly blue (as in filty/explicit/etc) romance with a paranormal twist. The whodunnit that forms a decent backbone of the plot is no head scratcher in terms of whodunnit. The concept of Mystic Bayou is well thought out and had clearly not just been thrown together haphazardly. Just don’t expect Tolkein levels of world building y’know. It is a brain of off, turn the page and enjoy kinda book and it was just what I was needing at the time.
