An entertaining tall-tale version of Levi Strauss’s invention of blue jeans during the gold rush. Illustrations painted on actual old Levi jeans show how creative and limitless picture books can be. Author’s note at the end clarifies truth and exaggeration so readers can enjoy it as a funny book and then fact check.

This is a great tall tale that had me asking tons of questions! Great for a jump-start for research, tall tales, or questioning.

I read this aloud to my class and it got their attention right from the beginning. It is a little disappointing to learn that most of the story is a fabrication because it sure is a fun story! Dang!
