This book was well written, and I did enjoy parts of it. It’s just, I wasn’t expecting it to be so depressing. I get it if you want to add a bit of sadness to your Christmas story because not everyone’s lives are perfectly happy, however I felt like it went on for pretty much the whole book. When I read a Christmas book I want to finish it feeling happy and uplifted, even if it has sad moments I want the good to outweigh the negative. For me, this book was just too one sided, not enough of both to make the negativity work.

This is an excellent book for the winter season and it has great character development, thoughtful discussions on grief and the protagonists actually communicate with each other well. It was very cute and heartwarming and I'd qualify this with an audible "awww."

This is an emotional, heartwarming story. Two people who have lost everyone they hold dear, come together and have another chance at love and happiness- If they are brave enough to take that chance....

This was my first book by Jessica Redland and it's not going to be my last. It's so exciting to discover new authors whose stories you resonate with!

This is a beautiful romance about two main characters that overcome a lot of tragedy and loss in their life. I really enjoyed it and have marked a few of that author's other books as To Read.

I have previously read some of Jessica Redland's books and I have enjoyed them, so I jumped to the opportunity of reading this one.

First of all, The Starfish Café is the most amazing name ever. It immediately gave me some vibes of the location and learning about it and all the people regularly visiting it, felt like it was part of my small hometown. That's the feeling I had while reading the book. It had a familiar feel to it.

Hollie and Jake... two characters I absolutely love. The way their relationship started and developed, the uncovering of their pasts and how it made them who they are... I could understand it and I couldn't stop reading because I needed more.

Grief, drama, resilience, family, friendship, love,... and Christmas. All things I like in a book. Specially the plus: the cute dog. This book had many messages in it. It was emotional and it was a rollercoaster. Thankfully I didn't read it at the beach, where everyone could see my tears falling down my cheeks. But it didn't just made me cry, it also made me smile. Not that crying was bad, it was a good thing. I didn't even realized I was crying, which means I really was into the story and connecting with the characters.

Overall, it was emotional. It was happy and powerful. It was lovely and it was comforting. And I enjoyed every second of it.
