This book was my first rodeo with Ali Hazelwood and I overall liked it and I think I’m gonna read the other STEM books, but my priority is Love Theoretically because of Jujutsu Kaisen reasons lol

The Love Hypothesis follows Olive Smith, a third-year PhD candidate, who has to fake date professor Adam Carlsen because Olive’s best friend didn’t want to continue dating the guy that Olive had previously dated. So Olive had to “prove” that she’s over it and that Anh can just date the guy since they’re obviously head over heels for each other.

I’ve posted about this before but one of the most ridiculous things about this book is the abundance of ways that the author described Adam Carlsen as big. Like everything about him is big, his height, body, his hands especially, and his d—.

I liked that there was depth to the story that highlights Olive’s hard work and brilliance. Although, I think towards the end, even though it was satisfying and everything worked out for them, I didn’t get enough closure about Olive’s career and details on how the person who assaulted Olive was made accountable, versus it being just an off-page thing.

I can see why some people would say that this book is like a well-written fan fiction because apparently it is?

The main wish I have for this book is if there was a few POVs from Adam. That’s it. 4.5 stars.

I would have liked this book a lot more if we hadn’t been constantly reminded every few minutes that Olive is smol girl and Adam is large man 🙄🥴 It felt like very lazy writing in an otherwise solid and fun romcom, but it was so off-putting that it really did impact my enjoyment of the book. The first time I heard it, it made me roll my eyes but it was fine. There was no need to repeat it even once after that let alone repeat it literally at least 9 times. Like please ☠️ Find another way to say he’s attractive to her or to describe their appearances.

Meh. There wasn't anything I really disliked about this book, but I just didn't feel anything for the main couple. The banter felt forced. I did like that the female main character was demisexual.
