A Crown of Swords

While there was a noticeable slowdown in pacing, A Crown of Swords was still a very enjoyable read, full of intriguing character moments, and lots of fleshing out characters we already love. My gripe with that specifically is in agreement with some other reviews I’ve seen; that these characters are all so well developed already, that a book with little plot and only development isn’t really needed, seeing as we are seven books deep.

That aside, I loved reading about all the plotting and scheming, and getting povs from several of the bad guys this go round. Jordan does such a great job of giving you a look into every characters mind, while still limiting the lens to only one character at a time.

At this point, I’m just so very excited to see where the story leads me, even if the quality does continue to drop during the slog, I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

5 stars-The Wheel Weaves Perfection.

A Crown of Swords isn't just good; I think it's "Nynaeve-breaking-her-block" levels of brilliant.

Pros:
✔️ Mat's Misfortune: From hero to hunted—Tylin's "courtship" is the most hilariously uncomfortable power dynamic since Galina discovered boxes.
✔️ The Bowl of Winds: A magical treasure hunt with actual consequences.
✔️ Rand vs. Cadsuane: A battle of wills sharper than a heron-mark blade. Her "disappointed grandma" energy versus his "I'm the Dragon Reborn" tantrums = perfection.
✔️ Nynaeve's Growth: Block broken, temper intact—now with bonus vulnerability (that Lan reunion? I still need to recover from that Lan/Nynaeve scene. Again).
✔️ THAT Cliffhanger: Jordan doesn't just end books—he drops mic so hard it cracks the floor.

Cons:
❌ Perrin & Faile: Still serving the same reheated drama; "will they/won't they... finally stab each other?"
❌ Elaida's Leadership: At this point, even Trollocs are like "maybe we should take notes on how not to run things."

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to JUST. KEEP. READING. (And may the Light have mercy on my emotions.)

The world and conflict is super interesting but there is no reason it should take 3 books to resolve the same 3 plot lines. And when they are resolved, the plot line ends before the results are shown.
Mat is straight up raped for no reason.
very weird book.
