I loved this so much more than the first book. While I enjoyed the characters in the first one the plot is what made it not as great as it could have been. With this second book the plot intertwined with the relationship so much better so I was able to get into it a lot more. It also helps that these characters are absolutely wonderful together. The relationship was so sweet and sassy and I loved every single scene they were in together. Great historical m/m romance.

I enjoyed this one but I liked the plot of the previous book a little bit more. Maybe it’s because Jack Turner was trying to live a more honest life while Georgie is perfectly happy to keep on swindling people and even plans to do the same to Lawrence before he begins to develop feelings for him. I liked the plot of this book and it was interesting to see Lawrence work on his machines and balance — or fail at balancing — his anxiety and isolation.
Georgie starts out not really caring about Lawrence to actually being interested in his experiments and caring about his health. I liked reading how Georgie worked to reorganize Lawrence’s office and papers, bring the house back to life, and protect him from the possible con of working with Standish. Sebastian does a good job of showing the caring heart Georgie has under his con artist ways.
Lawrence is a bit of a bear but he has a lot on his plate and also fully believes he suffers from the same madness as his brother and father so he just wants to be left alone. I liked watching him come out of his shell around Georgie and though he isn’t magically cured (which he shouldn’t be) he truly tries to make an effort where it counts with Georgie and with his son. Plus I loved the final scenes where Lawrence really goes out of his comfort zone to help Georgie. I did feel that Lawrence was very quickly forgiving when he found out about Georgie, maybe a little too easily, but it wasn’t out of left field. After all he already suspected something was a bit off with his secretary so it wasn’t a full blindside.

Rescuing the princess from the tower….except the princess is a grouchy, scientific earl with bad manners and the prince is a con artist experiencing a crisis of conscious.

I enjoyed this more than the first. I love a grumpy main who ends being a big teddy. I'm also enjoying the mixing of aristocracy and working class in this series. Love Cat Sebastion books!

I don’t have the words to describe how much I loved this book. It was DEEPLY romantic but also exciting and full of mystery, and I was hooked by every single aspect of the story. I can’t remember the last time MMCs connected with me this well, and I will be thinking about Georgie and Lawrence for a long time to come. I cannot wait to DEVOUR this series!

This was such a cute, funny book. Had all my fatal cliches; a criminal pretending to be respectable employee, recluse who hates everybody except for the love interest, trying to help each other before they even admit they love each other etc.
It's great. If you're wondering where to start in the romance genre, this is it. Although technically this book is the 2nd in the series, I wouldn't have known if I hadn't seen it listed as such on this page.
