So unnecessarily long when absolutely nothing happened for like 200 pages. So boring, all the characters got on my nerves. If it wasn’t for Nikolai this would get 1 star.

I'd probably give the beginning of this book 3/5 stars. It took me longer than I hoped to get through this book because of the first 100 or so pages. It wasn't bad, just a little slow and somewhat redundant at the beginning. That being said, after I managed to get passed chapter 8 or 9, my opinion of the book changed drastically. I ended up really enjoying the second book of the Shadow and Bone trilogy. The second half of the book was a real page turner and I was not disappointed...I was pleasantly surprised. Bardugo introduced new characters that I absolutely love, as well as expanded the development of aforementioned secondary characters. Although it was difficult to get into at first, I'm very happy that I stuck with it and I have high hopes for Run and Rising. 4/5

It took me a while to finish this book. I hate saying it but during the summer I’m not as motivated to read books. The story got boring at times for me, which is odd considering how much I loved the first one. The ending of the book was definitely unexpected and I still don’t know how I feel about it. I hope the next book will be better

4.5 stars. You know it’s a good book when it’s currently 5am and your half crying, half quietly squealing under your blankets reading the final moments.
I’m a whore for The Darkling, if there was more of him then this would be a five.
Overall, amazing book!! Can’t wait to read the next one.
