not a fan of the characterisation and the semi-insta love in this, but it has been an enjoyable read and i'm really liking this anti-hero protagonist
Listened to the audiobook. I didn't really enjoy this book, which I think is mostly because I didn't enjoy the story. I'm still interested in reading Marie's other books (like Legend). This one just wasn't for me, or the audiobook made it less good.

This was kinda of brutal. I didn't love this book, and I can't quite figure out why. I needed more. More emotion, more magic, more building. I'm not going to be reading the second book.
I wasn't a fan of the narration for this audiobook. Sometimes it was difficult to tell who was talking. And I feel like the voice tended to be try-hard and made it seem less realistic.

Well I liked this one better than the Legend books. I am intrigued as to what happens next in the story, but I'm not dying to read the next installment. Maybe I'll get around to it one day...but other adventures call my name instead. And that is why this book is a 3 star book for me.

Absolutely gripping, I loved the evolvement of all of this; plot, characters, world building, subplots. Amazing work.
There is really a lot to this series. I have read the first two stories and am currently impatiently waiting for the next book... I am holding out my judgement on what I think the author is trying to say with the series until I've actually read the entire story arc... but so far I'm really impressed. Very good characterization, a lot of unexpected story twists, (much like life,) and excellent world-building.
