I am giving this four stars, removing one for accuracy of Sadakos story. I read this in school as a child, and this story often finds its way to my memory. I think it’s such a beautiful story of hope, and full of sadness.

Not a recent read—read this one a bunch throughout elementary and middle school. I think there are some differences between this fictionalized account and the real one, but I found it profoundly riveting and moving as a child and remember it often.
