With The Stone Sky, the world building continued to be amazing and the pacing in this one was definitely better than the second. But that ending was strangely lacklustre (at least relative to book one) and somewhat predictable.

In this final conclusion of The Broken Earth series, Mother (Essun) and daughter (Nassun) are on a collision course that will determine the fate of the world. Essun and her companion/father figure, Schaffa, continue their journey to the Core to carry out what has become a fatal mission. While Essun must help her community relocate to find another home that has enough resources to feed a village. She must also battle with her now restricted use of magic and orogeny while finding Nassun AND saving the world. With mother and daughter pitted against each other unknowingly, this final book was emotionally charged and gripping to the end.
