That isn’t to say that the book does not go over so much in a sharp manner: one moment it could be sunshine and rainbows and then the next it could be dealing with great amounts of childhood trauma, so do brace yourself for that if you are looking to take on this book. Nevertheless, I still recommend it as a great read.
Coming from someone who had read the Shadow and Bone trilogy before, while a nice grasp of the Grishaverse may be helpful for the more subtle references, it is no way necessary and I can still see this book being digestiable by someone who’s new to the Grishaverse.
The plot twists were twisting, and the story was unfolding, till the end. Can’t wait to read Crooked Kingdom next.
Graphic: Blood and Death
Moderate: Ableism

I really fell for the characters and really made me want to protect these six weird but oddly charming characters….
I love that these kids are so Different from each other but they work together just So well…!!! Even if they have deep Deep rooted traumas - brainwashing and trust issues.
Kaz was the first that i really enjoyed however it was hard for me to imagine a 17 year old like this as the 17-year-olds i know arent! but thats why it is Fanasy haha
Also the three relationships, honestly love them all… fit so well together!!
When jasper was first introduced i knew something was Familiar with him and then they revieled that he an alphabet boy and just <333 i will protect him with my life.
I also like how - not mention outloud - but how jasper has ADHD.. and suffers from severe addiction.. and wylem has deep learning disabilities <33 like same boys same.
Honestly was not expecting myself to enjoy this as much as I did, so thank god i pushed through until the end bc this is amazing - I was afraid there was Major Character Death and thankfully - well not really - there wasnt.
Cannot wait to see Kaz get his Revenge. and <33 others be happy - and not have an all out war… but that is too optimistic by the other books.
