im no longer the last person on earth to not have read this! and finally having read it, i get why six of crows is so hyped and its fanbase so passionate.

tbh it's not like there's a lot of ~deep~ substance to the book, but no one can deny that it's rollicking, entertaining, adventurous fun. the characters and their dialogue, imo, are the crux of this book; the former is distinct and i actually like everyone on the crew (the character development's particularly satisfying), and the latter made me smile on almost every pg bc of how clever and witty it is.

i havent read a lot of heist stories, but this one's pretty enjoyable, though a tad predictable. and although the worldbuilding isnt sth out of the ordinary, it's interesting enough and serves its purpose, and the machinations of the ice court is intriguing. i also rly like the themes and many of the opposing conflicts, like grisha vs normal folks; decency in a cruel, greedy world; hatred and loyalty. cant wait to see what (and i already know there'll be some deaths) awaits the crew in the sequel.

I LOVED THIS BOOK !! I'm so angry at myself that it's taken me this long to read this book but I'm so glad I finally did. The characters, the world, the banter ugh it was all just so good. There were so many moments where I couldn't put it because I was having so much fun reading about these characters and wanting to know what was going happen next. I just loved this book so much and I can't wait to start reading crooked kingdom and see what happens next !!

Also I just want to say I am literally in love with Kaz fucking Brekker a.k.a Dirtyhands, Bastard of The Barrel, and owner of my heart.

Everything about this story is out of this world. All six of the main characters, as well as Kuwei, were so well fleshed out, and I just couldn’t put it down. Love Kaz and Inej, Jesper and Wylan, and Nina and Matthias more than I could ever put into words, each of them mean so much to me.
