Decent read. Didn't connect much with most of the characters.

It took me awhile to get into it but once I was in I enjoyed the ride! I love a heist plot but I was more invested in the characters development than I was the plot. It felt like everything was going to work out because of course Kaz is going to pull some crazy plan out of his ass at the last second. The stakes were supposed to feel high but they really didn’t to me🤷🏻‍♀️

I had the same complaint I’ve seen others have- the age of the characters did not work for me. So many of the characters had intense backstories and pasts with other characters that seems should go back years or decades but oop no that was like 6 months ago because everyone is 16 17 18 years old. I feel the biggest offender is Kaz (I love him tho). I understand he had an extremely traumatic series of events happen to him. But just imagining harden criminal Kaz age 10 becoming a gang leader really took me out of the story.

Looking past the ages of the characters I really enjoyed going on the job with the dregs gang and am invested in what comes next.

love this book. Truly got me back into reading, though the Prašina trilogy certainly helped.
The crows are interesting, charming, and funny. I loved the prose - it was descriptive just enough that it never got in the way of the plot but gave me a great idea of how things looked. The backstories of the characters were captivating, the whole beautifully emotional. However,
it ends on a cliffhanger and thus without reading the sequel you'll have no closure and a certain part made me uncomfortable
. However the atmosphere, dialogue, action... it was amazing.

The Crows spin off of Shadow and Bone is so much more entertaining than it's predecessor. If you thought Shadow and Bone was a little dull [like I did] and you're thinking of skipping this series because of that, don't. If you haven't read Shadow and Bone and don't really want to, you can still read Six of Crows on it's own. There is very little you will miss by not reading the other series.

The beginning was a little slow and when i got to chapter 2 I was having a hard time keep all names of the characters, gangs, and places straight. Felt like a lot of info dumped on me at once. I think some patience is needed to get into this story because the first half is just set up for the events to follow but i LOVED IT. Anyone that likes fantasy, subtle romance and crime, this is for you. I enjoyed the back stories of the characters i am a sucker for a characters with a tough exterior and dark past, but start to learn how to allow themselves a soft side. I will be reading book two!

This was so fun to read! Being back in the Grishaverse was a blast, with a new set of characters that are each so intriguing but a as crew absolutely unstoppable. I loved the little hints at characters we've met in the "Shadow & Bone" Trilogy. The story kept me on the edge of my seat, questioning at every turn whether they'll make it or not. I cannot wait to continue with "Crooked Kingdom" to see hiw the Crows' story continues.
