🦚 Single mom Alice opens her home to a man she encounters at the beach, off the coast of Yorkshire. He is going through a fugu state not knowing his identify, name or how he got there. Near London, Lily, a young wife from the Ukraine panics when her new husband does not come home from work. After she learns about his fake pass ort from the local police, she begins to search for him and for answers as to why he suddenly abandoned her.

🦚 This like most of Lisa Jewell's thrillers is bingeable, unputdownable and full of suspense. I particularly love this book because it has so much heart amidst the tense and thrilling context. The two FMCs are so different but also similar whereby they are both strong and resilient women. The multiple POVs were all easy-to-follow and flow together really well — answering questions along the way without spoiling the overall mystique and suspense of the story.

I devoured the book. It was incredible. It consisted of short, exciting chapters that made you want to keep reading. The story takes place in several places at the same time, so some chapters are written from a different perspective than others. In addition, there is an important story in the past which is also told in several chapters. Normally it bothers me when so much happens at the same time in a book and there is a jump in time, but in this book by Lisa Jewell it didn't bother me at all. The book is very mysterious from the beginning and I couldn't stop reading.
