This is a frustrating read. Tana French is a wonderful writer that keeps you interested enough to keep reading and reading, hoping that you will find the answers to all of the questions you have. Unfortunately she leaves a lot of loose ends that leave you frustrated by the end.

This was an interesting story and structure but I think I’m just not into cop procedurals.

This book went way too slow for me. It was really hard to stay invested after a while.
They don’t even make a break in the case until more than half way through! There was also not really a connection between the case in the 80’s and the murder in present day. Just weak overall.

The suspense was there but it lagged. Did not connect or like the narrator, Rob Ryan, actually found he was a total jerk and it took 600+ pages to describe what a tool he is.
Not sure if I will continue with the series.
