“When you touch me, I’m lost to you.”
“You’re never lost, Catherine. I’ll always find you.”

  • Workplace romance
  • Ex-military hero
  • Single POV (last chapter in male POV)

Well, this book starts with a bang (literally). Catherine catches her fiance cheating on her with her friend. What makes matters worse is they work for opposing PR firms pitching the same company… and he steals her pitch. Fortunately, she wins the account and is set to work alongside CEO Jackson, the stranger she bumped into at a bar that she couldn’t get out of her head.

Jackson instantly oozes confidence, while Catherine attempts to keep things professional. But it doesn’t take long for the lines to blur and for Jackson to convince Catherine to give things a go. I understood Catherine’s hesitation, considering her ex and her “daddy issues.” But Jackson was a charmer! He wasn’t afraid to tell her how much he liked her and what he wanted. Plus, he likes to dirty talk. SAY LESS.

The ending was dramatic and emotional and WHAT A CLIFFHANGER. I’m so glad I can move right onto Beholden.

Andi Arndt narrates the audiobook and she’s perfect, as per usual.

I loved it way more than I thought I would, to be honest. I don't like the series where more than one book is focused on the same couple anymore (I used to like them back in the day when I actually read YAs), but I think Catherine and Jackson's story needs another book. There are a lot of untold stories.

What I didn't like
Neil -
Spoiler That son of a bitch. Honestly, he is an idiot. I mean, after he cheated on Catherine with one of her "friends", he stole her fucking presentation, he kept harassing her with phone calls and even visits because he thought she owed him something. Uhm, excuse me? God, I was so happy when she slapped him and when Jackson beat the shit out of him.

♠ Piper - She is the friend I was talking about ^

What I liked
♥ Jackson - Oh man, I love NA heroes. They are always so perfect. Of course, he was no exception. I mean yeah, he has his problems and I didn't like the end of the book, because Catherine was right -
Spoiler He told her she was it for him and he will fight for her. After this, he leaves her. What the fuck?

♥ Catherine - She was a lovely heroine. She annoyed me at some point, but that's okay. It just made her seem human. I mean, she has her flaws. But I loved her most of the time.
♥ Mark - God, I can't wait for his book. I'll talk about him there, probably
♥ Ashton - She's the kind of friend you want in your life and she reminds me of my own best friend. Needless to say, I love her.

All in all, I can't wait to read the conclusion to Catherine and Jackson's story and then I'll read the rest of the series, because it looks so promising.

My first Corinne Michaels book and I really enjoyed it. I wish that it was duet style instead of single narrator until the last chapter... butttt overall very good. Cant wait to listen to the next book.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book, when she caught her fiance cheating with her friend and she didn't let that stop her. I thought it was great. I even enjoyed when she confronted her (ex)fiance after the meeting but afterwards she just started getting rather annoying.

At some point into the book I couldn't decide which one of the two (Catherine & Jackson) was more annoying. Catherine with the constant stubborness or Jackson with the constant mood swings, as I read farther into it (the very end) I got very irritated with Jackson. I understand that he lost a friend but to sleep with her, force her to say she wants you and then to just up and leave her? I don't think there's any going back from that for me.

I guess we will see when I finish the next book.
