The final book in the Woman of the Otherworld series. I liked how the author handled the ending.
SpoilerInstead of a grand overall ending, it was more of an ending to us following the characters. They will continue to live and have adventures but we just won't know. That's what imagination is for.

Amazing. This book brought back everything I loved about that serie - capable women who sometimes need a little rescuing and sometimes do the rescuing themselves, an intriguing and interesting plot, and almost all the characters from the previous books make an appearance. Now I'm sad to be done and tempted to read the whole serie again because I'll miss this world so much.

Well, the series has ended and I kind of feel empty. Not as thrilling as other books in the series but it was an entertaining read. Hopefully Armstorng may feel the desire to continue or expand on this universe in few years because this story was a little underwhelming.

I felt I was on a rollarcoaster while reading this book. Steep ups, sharp downs, stomach in my throat and the entire way I felt like screaming 'Hell ya!'. Okay so I wasn't really screaming but it was so fast-paced and ass-kicking I really felt like it at times!

I really enjoyed how all of the past narrators from the other books had their own chapters- it was like a brief farewell from each one.

While I'm incredibly sad that my favourite series is coming to an end, I am so pleased that Kelley Armstrong finished it on a high and didn't drag it out like some other vampire-type books I could mention.

Now that the series has ended I just wanted to say a brief something to the author:

Thank you so much for making this series. Everyone of them had me gripped from start to finish and I have nothing but admiration for your portrayal of strong female leads and your incredibly intricate and imaginative 'otherworld'. As a Librarian in a public library I tend not to buy books but I have bought every single one of yours as I tend to read and re-read them over and over. I reccommend you to all of my customers and everyone has come back and said how much they loved the series. In short; excellent work. The Women of the Otherworld will be missed.

I will admit that I haven't followed Kelly Armstrong from the beginning, but only discovered her books in 2010. From reading Bitten I was hooked and purchased every book that was available at the time.  The wait for each new release has been torture, even more so for 13. I have desperately wanted to find out what happens, but also did not want the series to end.  My UK version comes with a special short story narrated by Elena, but I'm not including this in the review and this is possibly going to be the vaguest review ever to make sure I don't spoil it for you at all.

13 gives us the chance to catch up with a few old favourites, and although Savannah is the main narrator, we also get to hear off Hope, Eve, Paige, Elena; and get to see a few of the guys in action.
We get to see all the supernatural community kick ass in an amazing way, and although there is a lot going on plot wise and having it split into different cities and people, it was easy to not only follow what was happening, but to take it all in and weave it together.  I really liked how all the good forces were joining together and helping each other out.  There were a few characters that I may not have liked in previous books, but they certainly helped out when push came to shove and I will admit to shedding a few tears.

I did not want 13 to end, and although there are a few deaths, some people that actually deserved it and some that actually made me cry, which I didn't expect to do for these characters, Kelly has made it so easy to become emotionally invested and attached to each and every character and I am really sad to leave the world that she has created.  From the moment I started reading 13 I jumped in with both feet and did not come up for air until I had finished and once I have completed my collection with matching covers I intend to re-read the whole series.

Anyone who is a fan of Kelly must read 13, it is a fantastic but sad end to an amazing series.

13 is the thirteenth and final book in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series and therefore this review may contain spoilers for the earlier books. This is one of my favourite series, so I highly recommend going out and getting your paws on Bitten if you haven’t been bitten yet…

"Anything you thought you knew about our world? Forget it. Someone has tossed out the rulebook. Ghosts can cross the divide. Hell-hounds can manifest. Demi-demons can possess living children… It’s not going to get any better until it’s over."

Having just escaped an exploding building, Savannah is on the run with Jaime at her side. Her magic is still on the blink but she knows it’s there if she can just conserve it. So it’s not very helpful when they both get arrested on suspicion of terrorism. It doesn’t take long for them to realise all is not what it seems? Is it the Supernatural Liberation Movement (which Savannah has nick-named SLAM) or could it be another cabal? With Savannah’s half-brother Bryce at death’s door, time is against them to find a cure. The supernatural community is taking sides but which will win? Reveal supernaturals to the greater world or stay hidden forever?

It’s certainly a grand finale for the Women of the Otherworld series. You know in the last episodes of Angel where it all starts hitting the fan and everyone gets involved a bit? Well 13 is a bit like that, but with all your favourite Otherworldly characters; each major player making an appearance. Really, I’m not sure if it will make any sense if you haven’t read the series and it is certainly not the place to start (go read Bitten, please) but it’s a fond farewell for existing fans. Narrated mostly by Savannah, it makes the last three books (Waking the Witch, Spell Bound, 13) a trilogy within the series.

There’s plenty of closure and redemption, although no one character really gets to steal the show. Savannah is a little distracted by the developments between her and Adam, and I found them a little awkward at times, especially her doubt and worrying about what others will think. She comes across a little younger than she did in Waking the Witch and Spell Bound. I loved the demon lords, who developed some personality just in time for the end. There are a few moments when my heart was in my mouth and I doubt very much the ups and downs will be a disappointment to fans.

If you buy the hardback edition, there is a bonus Elena short story. I enjoyed having this as an epilogue as I have always been a fan of The Pack and would have felt a little bit lost without their final say.

Now you may be sobbing over the end of your favourite series but Kelley has promised a brand new adult series starting next year, a third Nadia book, the final book in her second YA Otherworld trilogy and further Otherworld short fiction… and she hasn’t even ruled out returning to the Otherworld in the future. She just needs a break and I’m sure we can all understand that. I’m really looking forward to the Nadia book and seeing where her talents take her in the next few years. Plus, I’ve stored up a pile of short fiction to keep me going in the mean time!

When I first picked up this book, and before I even purchased it, I hugged it. Weird? Yes. I got stared at yet I couldn't care less. I waited TOO LONG for this and, now that its over, I'm a little sad. IT WENT SO FAST! I read it in two days! My goodness. This series is my favourite above all others. The action never stops and it has romance-y bits in it that make me say, "AWW!!!" I initially started with Dime Store Magic, not realizing that it was actually a series, and then quickly went out to buy the first couple of books. I absolutely LOVE this series. I won't lie, I teared a little bit at the ending. I know a lot of people complained about the last three books being from Savannah's perspective, but I have no such complaints. I actually liked her character, no matter how annoying she could sometimes get. Plus, the little "short story" at the ending from Elena made it come full circle. I feel like I've gotten so close to these women, and their families, to the point that I feel like I'm part of the team. To let them go after so many years will be hard, but I can always go back and relive those adventures, and they will never get old.
