This…felt like a memoir. Which is fine, but not what I wanted to read.

Hey so I actually LOVED this book! I’m not at all a big non fiction girl, so I wasn’t sure how I would receive this book, but frankly it was kinda hard for me to put down!!!! I really loved that even though I’m on the young-ish side of Gen Z, I still really felt like I could identify with a lot of what was written in here until roughly her post-college adulthood, making that 75% of the book in which I could identify with. As an enneagram 4 fan girl I related so hard to this book and am actually so glad to have expanded my tastes and read it!

I really enjoyed this book. I don’t listen to Kate’s podcast much but I enjoy following her on Instagram. This book made me feel SO seen; I related to much of Kate’s anecdotes and stories. That said, sometimes (in the audiobook anyway) the plays on words were too much for me, to the point where it seemed cutesy and distracting from the point she was trying to make. Still, enjoyed, and would recommend to all millennial gals

as a longtime listener of Kates podcast “be there in five”, I acknowledge that I will likely always have a soft spot and appreciation for her works (and words!). that being said, this was such a wonderful, hilarious, nostalgic walk down distant & not-so-distant memory lane. some tears, a lot more laughs, and consistent amazement at the wordplay. while there was some overlap from podcast content that listeners will likely hear echoing in their mind, I didn’t want the book to end and am grateful for ongoing weekly releases of BTIF

i simply did not care enough about the author’s PoV (it is one I am well-versed in) nor the framing of millennial as somehow meaning-making.
