Anthropomorphized book is lonely, finds a best friend, is ruined by BFF's dog (splattering mud on it), but then is redeemed by getting a custom-made jacket by the BFF.

Illustrations look like well-done kids' drawings.

Could be a good mentor text.

I just made a book jacket the other day! And it made me so happy! I was a little surprised at how happy it made me, in fact. But now I get it.

Told from the point of view of a book (named Book), all of Book's dreams come true when a little girl picks him up. But what happens when Book is no longer shiny and new? Will the girl still love him? Of course she does — she makes Book a beautiful paper jacket. A scribbly drawing style and zingy colors give this sweet story lots of energy.

This book was cute, if a little slow for the kids I babysit, with a fun art style.

The Jacket has so many of my favorite things: a clever, book-loving protagonist; a dog with a cute name; and a book! But books and dogs don't always get along so well, and disaster ensues. But our girl saves the day! With lively illustrations, The Jacket would be fun to share with another book lover.

I was feeling bereft that the libraries are closed until further notice, and second-guessing my strategy of keeping only my favorites in the house, when an Instagram ad for the Literati Boxes popped up. Tired of reading 'The Hungry Caterpillar' once again, I eagerly subscribed.
Turned out to be a great idea! Abby loved all of the included books.

The Jacket is a clever story about a book the wishes to find a child of its very own. When it does, it it thrilled- but finds its main competition, the family dog, less than desirable. When the dog pulls some shenanigans as pups do, the child comes up with a plan to save her beloved book.
