This was a decent book. It was a bit slow at times and difficult to stay invested but I still mostly enjoyed it. I adored the main character and loved the side characters as well. There was depth to them. They weren't merely side character existing just to exist. There was mystery (which isn't my favorite thing) that was done well. I liked learning what we did. I'm really hoping bitterblue can make a good kingdom and set them on a good path now that she will soon have people around her that support her ideas. That wont constantly push her ideas down. That want to make the kingdom a better place.
Graphic: Gaslighting and Grief
Moderate: Death, Violence, Child death, Death of parent, Self harm, Emotional abuse, Suicide, Child abuse, Suicide attempt, and Suicidal thoughts
Minor: Rape, Murder, and Pedophilia

Moved a little slow at times, but when it picked up, IT PICKED UP. There were some unanswered questions at the end that leave me wanting more, but I'm pretty sure there isn't any more. Boo

4,5 another incredible work of kristin cashore. following bitterblue as she tries to become the queen her people need by healing the trauma her and her people share because of one of the most terrifying villain i’ve ever read about : her father king Leck. it was truly astonishing storytelling and character growth. absolutely loved it
