In true genre-defining nature, it’s incredibly hard to pinpoint my exact feelings of this book other than utterly compelling, incredibly thought-provoking and completely bizarre. While there’s a fair amount of gore and some really REALLY weird (and grotesque) imagery and stories, it didn’t quite feel like horror. Perhaps it is the vivid portrayal of queerness and gender and the nuances in between, perhaps it’s the unflinching depictions of jealousy and lust and reactions to trauma, perhaps it’s the otherworldly elements that somehow feel more natural…regardless Megan Milks has created a masterpiece.

The weirdest fucking book I've ever read: incredibly inventive, strangely sexy, and very queer. In the opening story a woman has sex with and then turns into a giant slug. Very representative of the while collection. A fun reread!
