Wonderfully crafted narrative and original format. Anyone who wants something "different" should try this book.

Wonderful and engaging book that had, at times, too loose of a focus. Would’ve loved to learn more about Guts and Berta— felt I knew the most about Gringo. Loved Gala’s focus on materials.

"She gave me that dead little mosquito face that didn't affect me at all." - I love me some new comically sarcastic phrases to describe people!

Narration style is by numerous accounts. It's clever, yet gothic, mysterious, and filled with characters that you may never come to like.

There is something about a people and a place so steeped in superstitious beliefs along with their prejudice, and poverty, and yet they are so interesting. I still miss Cuba and my adventures there.
