Boring... Review appears on my blog www.motherhoot.com
Brief summary
Piper is an actress who is currently out of work. She moves back in with her parents and helps out at her mom's bakery. While Piper is at a charity event, a nice evening quickly turns into a crime scene. As the bodies start piling up, Piper can't help but wonder why this is happening and who is behind it all.
What I liked
I enjoyed that Piper wasn't acting like she was part of the police force and that she just let them do their job (like a lot of other cozy mysteries). Piper is an interesting character and I love that her mom owns a bakery that she helps out in. I kept thinking I knew who the killer was, but I was so wrong! I didn't see that coming.
What I didn't like
There were a lot of different POVs and sometimes it was confusing.
Brief thoughts
This is the first book I've ever read by Mary Jane Clark and I really enjoyed it. I'll definitely be continuing Piper's story.

Two and half stars....I've read several of Mary Jane Clark books that I really enjoyed. This one just didn't click for me.
A wonderful, light read...and I didn't figure out "whodunit" until it was almost revealed.
Week 35 of the 2018 Reading Challenge: A Book Involving a Murder.
Quick, easy read.
Quick, easy read.
This murder mystery was pretty engaging, but very choppy. The chapters are very short and the POVs switch almost constantly. Piper was a sweet heroine, as hard as it is to feel a connection to an incredibly sweet, beautiful actress. There’s a minimal romantic subplot that I think was just a set up for later books. I liked the setting of a soap opera set, but I didn’t love this book.
This was a quick, easy read ... Exactly what I was looking for!
Piper is an actress who has lost her job on a soap opera and is having trouble finding more work. So she moves back in with her parents in an effort to regroup. She isn't exactly thrilled about this (which is understandable given she's 27 years old!)
During an auction, one of her former co-workers is murdered and there are no shortage of suspects ... Including Glenna (who also works for the soap opera) who is about to get married.
We watch as Piper figures out how to move back in, make Glenna's wedding cake, figure out her feelings for Jack, and try to solve the murder.
As I said earlier, it's an easy read, definitely what I'd call a light read, but quite entertaining!
