What a wonderful read! I never expected to see So many weddings and proposals in this book! This was another wonderful read about Anne growing up. I loved seeing her mature and learn what true love looks like.

“And she was richer in those dreams than in realities; for things seen pass away, but the things that are unseen are eternal.”

Anne of the Island is a right time at the right moment read. The last half is so relatable. I'm at a similar place in my life, experiencing similar emotions. My life is moving forward, but it feels stagnant and there are moments of feeling left behind, lonely and empty. This book makes me feel seen!

I love Anne. I love the places that she finds beauty in and the wholesome small town vibes. I love the family and friends in her life, characters with mostly good intentions. I love the romance and its progression
Spoilerfrom rivals, to friends, to confusion, to being terrified of something more, to rejection, to mixed feelings and finally realisation. I'm so happy for Anne and Gilbert and the ending is stunning
. I love the quaintness of it all.

There are two aspects that I'm not keen on. One, Anne has a superior air about her, but because I love her character, I'm more tolerant towards that personality flaw. Two, I do not condone attempted cat murdering.

These books are my happy place! They're comforting, familiar and whimsical. Anne of the Island follows a more grown-up Anne. The story is still heartwarming, but there are few moments of bitterness, harsh realities and bleak realisations.

A beautifully written depiction of the bittersweetness that is life.
