For fans of The Infernal Devices Trilogy and Six of Crows duology, Roshani Chokshi writes about a world not far unlike our own.

I had high hopes for this book, having heard great things about it from many other readers whose opinions I trust. However, the main issue with this story for me was that it was hard to understand at times to the point where I wondered if THE GILDED WOLVES was a sequel instead of the first installment of a trilogy. As much as I enjoyed the characters, their relationships and dynamics were very much predetermined; instead of being able to observe as the budding of relationships, nostalgic thoughts were shown that I could not really empathize with due to not having experience these tender moments with the group.

Although the book was far from perfect, it was a relatively fun read and I look forward to reading the sequel.

"make yourself a myth and live within it,
so that you belong to no one but yourself"

oh my gosh...
can we just take a pretty long moment to appreciate this beautiful cover? i'm so in love with it! when we are finished admiring the cover of this wonderful book, can we go on admiring those wonderful characters? i mean i love every single character from tgw. they're all so unique in their own ways. <3
laila and zofia's friendship is everything to me! <3
i love how roshani chokshi combined elements of the bible, egyptian and hindu mythology, historical facts and sciences.

I immediately went and bought the second one - a brilliant and broad new world of magic and technology, where power is absolutely everything and our team of thieves are caught in a web of it. Beautiful characters, excellently woven narrative, nice LGBTQ+ rep, although some of the terminology might be a bit outdated, and tense pacing.

This was so fun and great for anyone who loves Six of Crows! Very similar vibes with a team of misfits who become found family and are always planning a heist. I loved these characters so much. I did get super attached to them and that’s what will propel me to read the next book for sure. The plot was fine but not my favorite. I couldn’t always picture what was going on in the high action scenes and the magic system is still fuzzy to me. Things just felt a bit muddled plot-wise but the characters are magic and I love them!! 😭
