I can already tell that I'll be back for another Frankie Elkin story even if the ending of this one left me feeling a bit ho-hum. Her character is wonderful and refreshing in these types of crime/mystery novels.
Not my favourite Lisa Gardner book, but she does write a really great page turner. And I love the focus on diverse characters that aren't often represented in books like this - but are also all too often the victims in cases like these.

A solid thriller. Not too much gore but enough mystery.
Graphic: Alcoholism, Drug abuse, and Kidnapping

I listened to the audiobook version of Before She Disappeared. Overall, the plot was intriguing and kept me wondering what exactly was going on. I thought it was an interesting picture of a haunted woman dealing with her demons as best she can. But I didn't much care for the ending - it felt a bit rushed and I don't really like some of what happens, but that's just personal preference.
As for the narration, Hillary Huber does a good job as far as inflection goes, and she does the main character perfectly. But I just couldn't get past certain things, like giving a born and bred Bostonian a Southern accent, or the teens' voices. Or the fact that it's clearly a white woman doing Black people's voices... It was distracting at times and pulled me out of the story.
I'm debating on getting the second book in Audible or just reading the ebook.
