Spooky season is coming up and I have the perfect book for it!
The Crooked mask is a book about Norse Mythology and the gods. It is set in Norway, in a circus that is hugely popular among the crowds. But the tent walls contain a secret…
Nina died last year. Now, she is haunting Martha for some reason or another. They all said she was training without a harness, but lies unravel and the truth is revealed. Can Martha win the game?
This book is actually a sequel to a book called ‘the twisted tree’. However, I didn’t know this at the time of reading, so if you want to start with this book you will definitely get the hang of it. I loved this book so much, it was really creepy. I hope someone else will enjoy this 5-star read soon!

I loved this read! I really enjoyed The Twisted Tree and this was a fantastic sequel. The Crooked Mask focused more on a murder mystery style plot, set in a creepy circus, but was still full of magic. I adore Martha as a protagonist, she isn't unafraid but is still willing to face up to any challenge and fight for the greater good. I loved the concept of The Norse gods and how they came to life in this story, it is so unique. I enjoyed all of the plot twists and turns and the focus on Loki in this one. This one didn't creep me out as much as the first one, which is surprising because I am a wuss and one of the things I have a phobia of is masks

What just happened? ._.
Those last few pages were a whirlwind! I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around what happened.
So the book didn't have a very interesting start; it was a bit slower and the plot took a little more time to unravel but it was so worth it. We got to see more Norse myths come to life. And things got really, really intense near the end. It wasn't as eerie as the first book, but there were a couple of really disturbing scenes that shook me.
I'm not really sure how I feel about the ending though, I'm having so many mixed feelings about it. I just really hope there's going to be a third book, because I need it so badly right now and it'll definitely shed a lot of light on some things :')

Beautiful cover & a beautiful book.
A story about Odin and Loki without it actually being about them. I quite liked the Twisted Tree, but this book really stood our for me. Took me a while to get into it, but after that the story gets really gripping. A fantastic read that I recommend to all lovers of Norse mythologie.
