This book absolutely lived up to the hype. Heartbreaking and real and heartfelt all at the same time.
pls read this book if you haven’t yet. pages kept turning, i finished this book in just a few days - the love triangle had me hooked! what a beautiful testament to the strength of women and the complexities of abusive relationships.
“it’s easy when we’re on the outside to believe that we would walk away without a second thought if a person mistreated us. it’s easy to say we couldn’t continue to love someone who mistreats us when we aren’t the ones feeling the love of that person.” this quote had me feeling a lot of different things - the main message of this book really resonated with me and made me think of my strong mama.

for the book that tried to cover such serious issues the writing was surprisingly.. lame and cringey?? like how do you expect me to take it all seriously when the only way that we find out about lily’s father abuse is through letters to ELLEN FUCKING DEGENERES of all people??
