I have no idea what to say about this book. It was NOTHING like I expected. The twists were something and I didn’t go into this book expecting twists. I thought it was going to be a sad romance. BOY WAS I WRONG. I have no words.

This book was a wild ride. I loved the slow burn (no pun intended) and the focus on dealing with trauma while caring for your children. I only wish that it hadn’t ended a certain way. I understand that it gave closure to the MCs, but the reality is most tragedies that happen are not arranged by another person. They just happen. I was enjoying the chaos behind that idea and the acknowledgment that you don’t always get to have closure, but that doesn’t mean you can’t survive and become stronger.

This was a solid 4 star read. The begining sucked me right in and the plot kept going and going. At one point I thought it was getting kind of dry, thinking everything had happened that could happen and a twist I didn't see coming blew me away. This was a quick easy read that was emotional and heart wrenching but at the same time the banter between the characters was hilarious at times. I truly enjoyed this book and certainly recommend it to anyone who loves an emotional read.

I saw a TikTok praising this book and I thought the plot sounded interesting, so I had to read it myself. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else did, and after forcing myself to push through as much as I could, I DNF'd at 90%. ☹️

I wasn't a huge fan of the author's writing, which was a bit shallow and failed to capture the characters' emotions or make them seem realistic. The pacing was also a bit off imo: we're thrown into the travesty almost right away, which means we're not connected to the late characters or affected by their deaths whatsoever when it happens. The two surviving characters are enemies becoming friends, but then a one-year time jump means we don't see them growing closer and even developing crushes on each other. I hate being told that things happen instead of seeing things happen.

The survivors get together pretty early on in the book, so the author relies on twists to fill the rest up. One of them is so ridiculous I couldn't read further and I DNF'd right there.

I think the plot/general idea had a lot of potential, but the execution wasn't for me.
