An excellent series that has lots of action (both sexy and dangerous) and a healthy dollop of humour. John and Caleb are wonderful but my heart belongs to Gray because they are everything. Possession has never been sexier *heart eyes*
Highly recommend to PNR fans

2.5 - 3 STARS for Hunter of Demons
the audio is annoying me because the narrator lowers/whispers Gray's voice as well as a lot of when they are actually speaking and my hearing (damaged as it is) can't hear it very well, however I can't turn it up as he speaks loud most of the other times.
HOWEVER, the star rating is all for Caleb who was annoying as hell through 90% of the book, acting like a teenager, though some of that was redeemed when he acted like a adult in the scene
UPDATE 22/05 : I have decided to let this series go, in audio, I will be looking into getting the rest in ebook, it has a lot to do with me physically being unable to hear a quarter of the story which just doesn't make me want to pick it up, clearly, since I believe I read book 1 in October last year. I have tried and tried again, however, yeah, audio version for me just isn't working and I honestly can't say I'll really enjoy the rest if I force

The story, however, was awesome I loved the characters and action. This would make a great tv show!

The problematic NHE's most likely became that way due to bad interactions with humans that drove them mad. This collection contains 6 books of novella length. Due to the length and the occasional cliffhanger, I would recommend reading them all together, rather than as separate books (and this is why I have not started on the second series yet; it's supposed to be released in a combined volume later this year).
As for the audio version, it took me a while to get used to the narrator's East Coast accent, but once I did, I found I enjoyed his performance of the books. I also found myself trying to learn the accent, but that's just one of my quirks; I like learning new accents.
Audiobook notes (which I will finish at some point):
Chapter 45 = Start of Book 4
Chapter 70 = Start of Book 6

It has the same feel as early seasons of Supernatural: the mysteries are intriguing and fun without being forced or easy, and each new creature is a further glimpse into the hierarchy and structure of the supernatural setup. You never lose the sense of the larger, overarching plot, which I think is the thing that really makes each novella feel like an episode in a season.
There's not as much emotional impact for me as the Whyborne and Griffin series, but it's different from it and fun. Gray is a great balance of being wise and obtuse, and the trio of Gray, Caleb, and John works so well, and I think we've all learned by now that a little bit of bloodplay is always a plus in my book.

Not sure if I'm going to pick up series 2 at some point. It is a really interesting take on vampires and I would like to see how the relationship between John, Caleb, and Gray develops now that they've decided to be together. Not that interested in SPECTR though and not sure where else the world can go.
Graphic: Confinement, Blood, Death, Fatphobia, Gore, Gun violence, Body horror, Hate crime, Injury/Injury detail, Violence, and Cannibalism
Moderate: Murder, Suicide attempt, Abandonment, Alcohol, and Grief
