Not my fav book. The storyline was predictable and the characters not all that endearing. Some of the short stories at the end were very sweet!!! But two of them talked about affairs and secret love and I didn’t enjoy them.

Paris for One is a collection of short stories by celebrated popular author Jojo Moyes and if you're a fan of her books, you'll enjoy what this collection has to offer. I personally find some of her books more compelling than others, and I found the same with this collection. For the most part they're engaging and interesting, with lots of realistic detail about the nitty gritty of the mostly female protagonists' daily lives, many of them "holding on in quiet desperation", as is the English way. The French way seems to be to seize the moment and enjoy life :) I really enjoyed the first story, the title story, and also Honeymoon in Paris (which could have been a novel in itself really), Last Year's Coat and The Christmas List. These ones I felt had more emotional depth, with the central character feeling a certain kind of loneliness that I could really relate to. Not every story in this collection is a gem but on the whole it makes for a very pleasant read on the train home.

Um, I liked Paris for One as a short story. Cute, fun, but not in depth. I understand why she added the other stories to fill a book and it was light reading, much different than any other.

This is a collection of short stories from JoJo Moyes. More than half the book is the first story "Paris for One" and I loved this JoJo Moyes-esque romance, very sweet! The other stories were very short (less than 10 pages or so) and felt like story ideas for the author that did not pan out - interesting little stories.

I enjoyed the first story well enough—it was pleasant and entertaining for listening to on transit. However, I was much more lukewarm on a few of the other stories and found this collection to be quite uneven.

I don’t think I realized when I started this audiobook that all the stories featured women stuck in disappointing relationships. Overall, the theme is: there’s a long-suffering competent woman saddled with a lead weight of a boyfriend/husband. I know relationships are complex, and a couple of these stories were better about portraying that complexity, but dear lord I just wanted to shout at some of these women GET OUT NOW! And then, spoiler alert, a couple of them do in rather entertaining ways, but most just choose to continue plodding along with the man-shaped lump they are currently tethered to. Annoying.
