Story does a weird bit where it positions itself as a classic romance but then takes a serious pivot. Characters feel like caricatures and there is some uncomfortable romanization of toxic masculinity and emotional affairs.

Geez, Louise! This book was a roller coaster of emotions. I'm happy, I'm angry, I'm sad, then I'm hungry...what's the deal?!

This was such a good read. Kristen's battle with infertility is one I've seen too many people in my life struggle with, so it really hit home to read her firsthand account. Her highs and lows were so well written, and I loved seeing those closest to her rally around her when she needed them most.

Kristen is the type of sarcastic, quirky, no nonsense character I would love to be friends with in real life. I loved that she took every chance she could to joke on her bestie, Sloan, and make her feel awkward. And I loved that she mailed people potatoes with messages on them. Potatoes! That's just genius and perfect, and it's something I would totally do...and may still do now that I'm thinking about it. She really was a girl after my own heart, especially when it came to food. She was already thinking about dinner while eating breakfast, and if that's not me, I don't know what is.

I also loved watching her grow and stand up to the bullies in her life. It was a hard road and took a little encouragement from Josh, but I was so glad to see her finally get there.

Josh was the Yin and her Yang, and it hurt my heart to see them going back and forth over the kid issue. I liked having the dual POV so you could see his misunderstandings of the situations and compare them to what was actually taking place. I think the story did a great job of showing personal growth for both main characters by focusing on the fact that what you want in life one year and what you value and think is important could easily change after meeting certain people, but that doesn't mean you've given something up or are settling. It just means priorities have changed.

I LOVED the How I Met Your Mother Naked Man reference. Pure gold. I also wish I was a Tarantino fan so I could have understood and connected with all of those references (like lil Stuntman Mike), but I loved that Josh and Kristen at least knew what they were talking about.

That plot twist, man...that one hurt. That one hurt alot, and I'm ready to see how it all carries over into the second book! Just buckle up, Buttercup. And Sloan showing how amazing of a friend she was toward the end??? Gah, that part gave me chills and made me want to cry, it was so sweet. The ending was a little stereotypical for me, but I kind of expected it to go that way, and I ain't mad at it. It was cute, while still showcasing a bit of reality in the mix.

This was not a rom com… rom coms don’t make me cry 😭

A very silly love story that could've been a chapter long if the characters just communicated properly 😂. I do appreciate that Abby wrote this book to acknowledge support a friend with fertility struggles. And there were a lot of cute/sweet moments I loved.
