A unique perspective on infidelity.

Accompanied by Olivia Colman and Andrew Scott's performance of this play.

Quick Read, straight and to the point

I'd heard so much about this play after hearing that Tom Hiddleston had done this live. The only things I noted amongst the few snippets was that the story is told backwards. After reading it though, I expected a bit more.

There are certainly a few parts that I laughed aloud and others that I had choice words about the character, so it definitely drew me in, but I still expected a bit more. And the end.... came up so sudden. For the purpose of my purchase, it gave me a lot of insight, I just wish there was more.

I loved the timeline variation. By starting the play with the conclusion of the marriage and then progressing backward into the affair and ending with the beginning of the affair the audience is confronted with a different sense of loyalty to the characters.

Most plays and novels follow a standard chronology, this play breaks the norm and opens the audience to experience the beginning with hindsight rather than as a typical sequence of events.

It’s okay. Like something flinty gleaming thru so you Know it’s like good but it doesn’t actually hit you with anything though it’s clearly smart and shit. Felt bad for the woman — perhaps real betrayal can come from the smaller things like just not remembering things that other people have said, not respecting other people’s desires and thoughts, etc. I think that resonates with me.

Plays about nothing mean our lives are about nothing
