I enjoyed this book, but was disappointed with a few things. It took me about 100 pages to remember what I needed to from the Graceling books. The casual need for sex to relieve anxious feelings was super irritating and sends the wrong message to teens…anyone. I was disappointed because sex was completely unnecessary and wasn’t a part of the first books. It was forced and seemed like a ploy to reach negative reviewers from the past. Although the ending was a good one, I was hoping for a different ending for Lovisa. That was too bad. Overall, I enjoyed, but it didn’t quite have the hook that the others did.

3.5 rounded up

I’m afraid miss cashore does not believe men and women can be friends without sex and/or falling in love. It is indeed a tragedy.
However there were a lot of great moments not involving romance that were great, and the expanding graceling world is magical and very rad! Love the map that’s gotten bigger with nearly every book and the lore of each land is just as interesting as the ones before it.

Just very good

Idk just her way of dealing with emotions and pain and the process of healing and growth always get to me. Another book that was a hit for me

I would have loved to see Katsa and Po in this book and was a bit disappointed that we didn't, but I still enjoyed seeing the few original characters again. The intertwined and complex plot points and mysteries definitely kept things interesting. I especially liked seeing Lovisa's relationship with Nev and Mari and his family grow and seeing her interact with her brothers.
