Different than anything I normally read, but oddly satisfying at the end and throughout. It’s a book that takes place 90% of the time in one place. Even if you can’t relate to the main character’s actions - you can still relate to her inner dialogue about perceptions of life, love and finding herself.

I live in NY and while this is not anything close to the NY I live in (much more mundane), it is an interesting and at times dramatic character focused read that both romanticizes NY and the restaurant industry while also discussing the gritty parts of both. This book is clearly an extreme and so is the character. But as a whole very fun, and I absolutely loved the audio book. The reader was so fabulous even though I did read a couple sections of the book without it I found myself craving the narrators voice.

I tried to read this months ago and couldn’t get into it but glad i picked it back up. A lot of people don’t like this because it is all about being a waitress and working in the food service industry. I like it as the food industry is always a MESSY staff. Everyone sleeps with everyone. Working in that industry for years it made kinda have some nostalgia about it. Also since trying to move to nyc in October, i am gravitating towards a lot of NYC based books at the moment.

Started this book because of the show first.

It is a great read if you want to feel seen, especially if you're confused about life and being aware of being alone in it.

You dont have to know or relate to the whole kitchen/server lifestyle to get into it.

The romance was really good, I felt like I grew with the characters realizations on what she needed and didn't need or what she had misperceptions about.

Over all this book is worth picking up and worth sitting with longer after finishing.

I wish I could give this book 4.5 stars because it really was so good. Perfectly described the restaurant experience, the NYC experience, the fresh out of college and feeling lost experience, and was written beautifully. Def recommend!!
