I really enjoyed this junior novel of The High Republic era. I particularly liked the discussions of whether the Jedi should be the sword versus the shield because I love when a story can be great on its own within the specific book, but can also transcend that book and make a difference in the greater canonical conversation!

It’s my understanding that this book takes place at the same time as Convergence, so I’m looking forward to reading that next and seeing the same time from a different perspective!

This is an excellent middle grade adventure story - enjoyable characters (Rooper and Silandra particularly stood out as an excellent Jedi Master/Padawan duo), an interesting setting, lots of suspense and some great plot twists. I also really enjoyed how it tackled themes of environmentalism and greed. A Test of Courage remains my favorite of the middle grade High Republic stories but this is a close second.
