Ok, I get all the hype around this series, this first volume was AMAZING.

Aphra is a interesting and unique character in the Star Wars universe. She is likable, but also works sort of for, sort of against the Empire. She isn't cozied up with the Rebels. This creates fascinating dynamics highlighting parts of the SW universe often looked over with the Rebel focus.

I also love the way her crew purposefully mirrors the OG trilogy's crew, but puts a spin on them.

Her pair of droids are particularly delightful.

Overall, amazing, well worth giving a read for any comic fans.

I enjoyed the art, but I didn't enjoy the story all that much. Maybe it's because I haven't read the Vader comics that Aphra comes from? I did appreciate the nods to Indiana Jones. The sociopathic Threepio and Artoo seemed forced to me. I liked Aphra's dad. That's all I have to say, I guess. I'd be interested in reading a full length book about this character to give her another chance to grow on me.
