this was kinda confusing with all the mumbo jumbo talk about artifacts and super smart words i don't know the meaning of but other than that i really love this novel. it was fun, it had me laughing out loud and my favorite bit a gay main character. this is the first that i've heard of Doctor Alphra, i don't remember her in any of the movies and i haven't read any books with her character in them but she is totally badass and i love her.

The characters are stellar, and I'm in love with Aphra. Plot-wise, this volume mostly sets the stage and tone for what's to come, I felt, and didn't really grip me. It was still entertaining, though.

I like how Aphra already has tons of depth and nuance as a character, and I see much potential for her to grow in different ways - exciting. Her moral ambiguity and unpredictability will undoubtedly take her and the story to many interesting places going forward. I'm very much here for it.

Story: 4
Art: 1 - the art in this was awful. Not the covers...but the actual pages are just terrible. Aphra has never looked worse. Compare this to the art in Screaming Citadel (up next) and you can see how bad it was.
