Although the beginning had me hooked, the insta lust/love turned me off pretty quickly. From Quinn's aversion to vampires and the whole draft thing, I was expecting some tension before the two women get together emotionally or physically. But the mating hormones worked both ways, apparently, and they couldn't get their hands off each other. And I was skimming the sex scenes because they were honestly boring.
The major plotline was a bit formulaic and there was nothing surprising or interesting going on, again, despite the intriguing beginning. Technically, there is nothing wrong with this book, it just felt like I read this story million times already, the characters were bland and sometimes acted very stupidly (guards ignore their orders because Quinn asks them to; Velika conveniently forgets something to prolong the story because she "panicked" even though she's a cold-ass warrior spouting out orders and killing left and right during the whole book... Unfortunately, I won't be continuing with the series because I was very close to DNFing this one out of sheer boredom.
