I was listening to the audio version (which i highly recommend) while walking back home when the book ENDED (?!?!?!?!) i stopped in the middle of the road thinking waitt...WHAT?!?!?! wtf ?!?!?! What a brilliantly excruciating ending to this rich, layered story.

This book gives the genre of domestic thrillers a whole new dimensions. While it can be dense and meandering in its slow moments - the details add to the incredibly complex personalities of every member of this family. I absolutely did not like many of the characters, but I felt like I completely understood them. This was an incredibly interesting, challenging and demanding read - and every minute was worth it. I will keep thinking about this family and that ending during quiet moments for days to come.

I loved this family drama told from the perspectives of the teenaged daughter, her younger brother, and their mother and father. Hooked from the beginning. Secrets revealed, some expected, some absolutely not expected. One of the best I’ve read this year!
