I’m not rating this yet because I don’t know what to give it. Can I rate on potential of what it COULD have been? Because the potential is allllll there.

My hot take is that the publishers rushed this out to chase and hold the success of Fourth Wing. It absolutely doesn’t read as clean as FW and it reads like it’s a draft that needs to be pared down, read through and reworked, and then sent to the editors for another look through (or two).

Also that ending? Fuck that shit. Just. No.

I had anxiety throughout the whole book, what a turn pager!

I do agree with most that this should have been 2 books, though out the book information provided was very loaded as we are introduced to quite a few character and multiple new places. This book has left me with so many questions (that will be answered in the future books), that I am super inpatient to wait for the next book.

I enjoyed that we were able to see more dragons and world building, but do wish secondary characters had more screen time.

good god, the first like 70% of this book was so tough to get through. i was so uninterested and the story just dragged on with no value or anything to add to the plot??? the miscommunication being dragged through so many damn chapters?? like what was the point. sure it made for some good yearning but it got so tiring reading the same fight over and over again. it started getting good 75% in and that is baffling.

rebecca. honey. i feel like we could’ve shaved off 200 pages from this book and the story would still have the same value. boy was i bored. i felt like i had to force myself to finish this book just to finish it. the ending though i will say was unexpected. i thought Jaden was going to be on the brink of death or something not turned into damn venin. and andarna being a whole ass different breed? loved that.

this book made me wonder why i liked fourth wing so much?? third book better be way better, i cannot go through this snooze fest again.
