More instalove and miscommunication as a plot device (which is my least favourite trope) The expansion on world building was cool but the plot was predictable. I did enjoy the characters and I’ll skim the last book for completion to their story.
Meh...Slightly different than Shadows & Crowns, but very similar themes. There are times where I just skip over pages of descriptions and/or a character's inner monologue because...boring. The self-doubt of the women she writes does get really old very quickly. Certain phrases have become cringe moments for me each time I read them, i.e., "she/he took deep calming breaths," "he/she counted (or tapped) to a (insert number here)." Some things don't need to be in every single book repeatedly. I think with a few tweaks, more self-assurance from the characters, these titles would be a win.
That ending!!! I can’t wait to read the next one!

The couple needs to be together more! I don't know this series is a trilogy and I feel like the romance has just fallen a little flat and I don't feel their chemistry or love the way I want to. I'm glad the prince doesn't try and hold her back and supports her with fighting but WHY does he stay back sometimes... why isn't he always running into battle with her to help her???

Please take my heart and repeatedly crush it, SM Gaither. This was so good. My emotions are in turmoil. I’m staring at the ceiling wondering if I am even prepared for the onslaught of emotion that is sure to come with the last in this series.
The relationships. The deep reflection and emotion that comes with the aftermath of book 1. It’s so incredibly well done that my brain is still caught up with Emrys’s thoughts and emotions. I knew he’d be my favorite character before the end of this series, and damn did have the best glow up.
