Although facts have changed (i.e Pluto), errors are to be found, omissions not to be found, this is still a wonderfully sprawling book that truly does cover nearly everything. If you have an aspiring young scientist in your family who is unsure about which field they want to study, give them this book - a survey of most of them (Geology, Chemistry, Physics, Anthropology, Cosmology, Astronomy, etc) is to be found within. And a good dose of humor to wash it all down, with.
