Loved this, feel big brain now

Like some other Bill Bryson books I've read, I find them mostly very interesting and at times laugh out loud funny, interspersed with chapters of utter boredom. This one had a big part in the middle which I almost didn't get through. Other than that, good book filled with SO much information you'll never remember but is fun to have touched upon!

This was wonderful and fascinating and I sincerely believe I would not have finished it had I not been listening to the audiobook rather than reading a copy of it. Very dry at times, but also with a good amount of dry humor. The best thing I got from this was imagining mega fauna that once roamed the earth - somewhere between the terror of a dinosaur and the inanity of a domesticated pet lies the whimsical a sloth that could peek into a second floor window. It was great nighttime listening for dog walks in December, as I constantly looked all around and marveled at the universe I call my home and yet about which I know so little.

Was fully expecting this to be somewhat similar to a Sapiens, but my gosh it was denser than almost all my science textbooks growing up, combined.

If I was a nerd for geology, astronomy, archaeology, etc., this book would’ve been a godsend. But unfortunately I can confirm, I was not.

This was an excellent book. It took me a long time to get through it, but it had nothing to do with the writing. I though Bryson did a good job of making the topics covered interesting.

I wish all my text books had been this much fun to read. I also wish I could retain even half the facts that were in this book. It really makes you think differently about Science.
