This was a fun book. The story comes together nicely but isn't anything groundbreaking. I do like the world that the story takes place in and I hope there will be more books set in that world.
Another thoroughly enjoyable Scalzi book. I actually really like how complicated the mysteries get in these Haden books: they always involve far more people interconnecting in so many more ways than you would expect and although it can get a little confusing at times I like how everything eventually comes together into a logical conclusion. I think my favorite part of this series (and this book, obviously) is the world-building: how Hadens interact (or don't) with the 'real' world, how society has or has not changed to accommodate them, how Abrams-Kettering is disrupting the Hadens' way of life and how companies were taking advantage of government subsidies that ultimately pushed AK to pass. I also really liked that you could tell Chris and Vann have been partners for a year by now: their partnership is a little more solid and they know each other better. Heck, it even sounds like Vann knows Chris' parents pretty well at this point, and not just as famous people. So yeah, I suppose that's my tl;dr review: it's enjoyable and (almost hilariously) complex and the relationships feel like a natural progression from the first book. It is a worthy sequel and I'll be happy if Scalzi writes more of these (I think that's part of his 13-book deal, right?).
Oh and, y'know, multiple destroyed threeps. 'Cause it's Chris.

really solid “sequel” to lock in, while it doesn’t bring up any major points that would spoil the first book or require you to read lock in before head on, it makes sense for the context because this book is set about a year after book one ends. overall, a really worth it book if the first book piqued your interest (like mine) and i don’t have any major complaints? my only wtf moments and things are that the twins STILL aren’t explained, and that while this book/series doesn’t need it, some kind of silly romance sub plot for chris with the doctor roommate (who’s name i’m FAILING to remember
Pretty good sci-fi mystery. Can't really say why I didn't love it, but it was fun to read either way!
I just love this series so much. The mysteries are engaging, the sci-fi accessible and the world Scalzi builds is so rich you wind up totally believing it's normal for a person's conciousness to pop in and out of different robotic bodies and online worlds. I can't wait to read the next one.
Another excellent Scalzi. But I wonder what made him hate Philadelphia so much.
