Не харесвам особено приказките на Толкин, за разлика от всичко, свързано със Средната земя. Това, за съжаление, спада повече в първата категория, макар в историята да се забелязват познати елементи, като някои тролоподобни непохватни образи. Интересно е обаче предаването на имущество и начинът, по който героите предявяват искове.

The plot is kind of a well-worn one but with a prose that bears some witness of the great artist that has written it.

Read far more like a book meant for a particular set of children than children in general. Not a bad read by any reckoning, but pales in comparison to Roverandom or other stories in the Tales from the Perilous Realm.

Mr Bliss av J.R.R. Tolkien är definitivt inte hans bästa verk. Men det är en mysig liten berättelse om Mr Bliss som köper sig en gul bil, både utvändigt och invändigt med fina röda däck. Att han inte kan köra bilen skapar en hel del konsekvenser som han sedan får betala för.

Read with my 6-year old daughter. We do read a lot of children’s books, but I thought this one, being a Tolkien, deserved a review. Such a beautiful, hardcover book, very creatively illustrated by the author, but the story bored us no end, unfortunately. Perhaps suitable for even younger children..
